First : i admit that the reason i become an italian fans is because of the guys. that was way,way back in 1994. i just have a look at Maldini at the rest is history. it's heartbraking to loose by penalty-shot-out after been playing one of the most beautiful game in the tournament. but, after that, i start tu put my heart into soccer. i'm just 12 years old at that time and it is so hard to follow serie A in m'sia where it seems only EPL the prestigous league in the world. still, i try to catch up with AC Milan news and others.

i'm very dissapointed with last night game. before the tournament begin, i'm not agree with the player selection. the reason why he left Inzaghi reeling for his operation is reasonable but questionable. But, Alberto Gilardino? What is in Trap's mind? For a player who scored 23 goals in the Serie A this season – more than Marco Di Vaio and Bernardo Corradi put together – to be left in the Under 21 side because he is "young and inexperienced". Gilardino nearly pipped Sheva for the golden boot with the hatrick scored in the last game of the season only for Sheve to score once more to end Brescia brace to celebrate Baggio retirement.

Italy has always struggled to produce goals at major tournaments and have recently relied on Christian Vieri to do the work up front. Vieri has scored 5 and 4 goals respectively in the last two World Cup tournaments and without him, Italy would have most probably struggled even more so than they did.

With all due respect to Corradi and Di Vaio, they are not prolific scorers. Corradi, who has been chosen as direct back up for Vieri, has scored 10 goals, whilst Di Vaio, a bench player at Juventus, notched up 11 this season.

With Corradi unlikely to feature if Vieri stays fit, what would have been the problem of calling up Gilardino if he were unlikely to get much playing time anyway? It would have been a valuable experience for the Under-21 international, learning from the likes of experienced campaigners such as Vieri, Del Piero and Totti and getting used to the environment of training with the team in camp. In light of the 2006 World Cup, this would have been a very smart idea. Sadly, for Italians fans, Trap is not in the same boat.

For the starting line-up, Zanetti, who had an awful season with Inter? Perotta, hhmm... somehow, i cant register properly which club he's been playing last season., but he is the best midfielder of the Italian clan; worked hard and tried to help Totti as much as possible. Cameronesi, again, what? why all this guys in line-up? where's Andrea Pirlo? he's one of the best Milan player and clearly on the top form. surely he can do better than totti's free-kick. the decision to get Gattuso into the game was too late. the midfilerder was already loose the ground.

totti? the danes clearly succesful in trying to keep the Roman quiet.Bobo? if you can't get the ball, how can you scored one, but, he did miss that few chances he actually get. Del Piero? still reeling from injury he pick-up in the middle of the season.

The only italian players in the game. the Back-four and Buffon. He showed why he is one of the best goalkeeper in the world. He kept Italy afloat with a superb double save in the second half. always secure and confident guarding his post. thank god he doesnt bring along his 03-04 season to Portugal . remember, he let 42 goals past him and juve defense blunder.

As we know, the Italians defence is the envy of world football. fro generations, the Italians have built a team around a strong defence, much like constructing a building- you have strong base and the rest can support it self. and last night showed how string this kind of belief influence the game When, the midfielders is nowhere to be seen (learning how to kick football?), the defenders stood-out to show the world, that football is not about scoring goals! shame on you poeple who thinks that a good game is a game where you score a lot of goals!

Panucci : should have done better. Normal administration on the right flank, however a mistake in the second half could have costed dearly to Italy

Zambrotta: a good-replacement for Maldini's spot. he's a midfilder in juve but done a very good job last night. good at defending adn dangerous when attcking in the left wing.

Nesta and Cannavaro : the reason why italy kept the cleansheet last night. The captain was a rock in the middle of the defense; unbeatable while Nesta seems less visble that Cannavaro, still he didnt make any mistakes and seems pretty solid throughout the game. None-theless, the best centre-back in the world.

but, Trap, change the tactics.surely they are the best in the world but you cant always hope the back-four can win you the next game with the comeback-king Larsson score majestically to bury the Bulgarians. you have to score to win. control the midfiled and get the ball to Vieri or Totti!

gotta back to the books. it's gonna be along a day tomorrow. Exams! cannot watch the germans vs the dutch. should have been a good game!
