last week of the rotation, i have to scrap my initial plan of taking a day off this week by laying low after a very erratic week ..

yea.. THAT presentation.. somehow, i landed myself on case presentation for an intern/HMO level, where my resident made no effort at all to prepare for the presentation [which is TOTALLY his responsibility].. if that wasnt bad enough, he dissapear right before the presentation when Gen Med B team [repeat: TEAM [that include an intern, registrar, senior registar] was presentating..

me, being the only person from the ACE unit present at the time, bravely yet stupidly [when i got the time to think again] offered to begin the presentation .. BIG MISTAKE! there was me in front of an audience that include Prof Newham [whoever at Box hill would know how scary he is when it comes to asking question], another Gen Med consultant, registars, residents, interns and medical students.. presenting my partially fnished slides presentation which my resident made no effort to change or add new information since i left the file to him from the day before..

when i got to the discussion part, Prof Newham was basically firing me with all the question that me feel like i'm on the death squad; my resident magically appear in the room.. i made it clear to pass on the role to him where he rambles about something is not related to the question; i have to jump in before the situation get worse.. i could see the smirk one of the registrar face at the back of the room when my resident started talking.. and Dr. Leung effort to help him when Prof Newham asking a question that i would even know the answer..

it was one of the longest 30 minutes of my life.. and i manage to get through without jumping out of the window .. but, the damage already done, my resident is definately in a big trouble..

i came to he hospital on tuesday and heard that i got a new resident for the team.. the first thing that came on my mind is that my old resident got FIRED!! well, i know it's not possible but, who knows.. apparently it's his annual leave..

well, i'm gonna miss him though, made no mistake, he is a nice guy.. it just that he's having trouble adapting to the hospital system which is beyond his level ; and i was basically running the show with my registar for the past 3 weeks..

that's 6 weeks of Box Hill hospital for me..
